Touchscreen (NHS)
“Colinton Surgery is a large 6 Partner, 9 GP Practice of 10800 patients. One Touchscreen was fitted in March 2007, on the wall adjacent to the Reception Desk, for checking in booked appointments only. Overall it has proved a considerable success.
It was installed at a time when one of the four full time receptionists had just commenced a long period of sick absence. Previously one receptionist manned the reception desk and a separate receptionist processed the repeat prescriptions. Once the use of the touchscreen increased it enabled one receptionist to combine both tasks whilst working at the reception desk. It has also enabled, in periods of reduced appointments (around lunchtime and close to the end of the working day) the receptionist to work in the adjacent office, covering any reception desk requirements as the majority of patients now check themselves in. It has had a very considerable impact on the receptionist’s workload.
During last year’s Patient Survey, there were many favorable comments on the Touchscreen system.”

VPN
Microtech have recently set up VPN (Virtual Private Network) connections between all our hotels and restaurants; 8 sites in total. This means that we control our clocking in system from our head office at Lochgreen Hotel. It was essential that all our systems at each site could communicate easily and quickly with each other and as usual Microtech carried this out for us seamlessly.

Server Install
As part of our recent IT refresh programme we upgraded our Fileserver. The process from planning, installation and post installation support was professionally managed by Microtech with little disruption to our everyday processes.
